The best SSD for PS5 adds fast M.2 storage that plays PS5 games directly, unlike a USB drive. Sony's rules are simple: a PCIe Gen4 x4 M.2 drive, a recommended read speed of 5,500MB/s or more, and a heatsink or other cooling.
Every pick below has a heatsink fitted in the box. We checked every listing on Amazon in October 2026 and used the specs the makers publish there. We do not list prices because Amazon prices change in real time; use the buttons to see the current price and availability. Scores are our editorial scores out of 10, not Amazon customer ratings.
